Plane Carrying US Defense Secretary Forced to Land in UK Because of Crack in Cockpit Window
A jet carrying Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was forced to make an unplanned landing in the United Kingdom on Wednesday following a fracture was discovered in the aircraft's cockpit window, according to an official statement which verified that Hegseth was safe.
"The aircraft touched down in accordance with standard protocol and everyone onboard, including Pete Hegseth, is secure," a spokesperson said in a public statement.
He was traveling back from a short visit to the Belgian capital when the incident occurred.
This occurrence isn't the first time that a United States armed forces jet ferrying a senior official has suffered mechanical issues.
Earlier this year, a US Air Force plane transporting Marco Rubio to the German city of Munich was forced to turn back to Washington after experiencing a mechanical problem.
