Eulogies Pour In for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Are Sealed.
More than two weeks subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the couple.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, stated he only now felt ready to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has passed that I can finally express my sorrow into words," wrote Elwes, saying that his first meeting with Reiner left him smitten. "As we began sharing more moments together I understood this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor posted archival material from the production, remarking that he cannot recall "any day without joy".
"This story is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob held dear. That is part of the many reasons he was the best person to guide it," Elwes expressed.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I remember you." He concluded with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Colleague and Comrade
In a different essay, revered director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the protagonist.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with his co-stars, and he understood the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Restricted
This week, a Los Angeles judge decided to bar the release of the Reiners' autopsy reports, following a petition from the local authorities.
A legal directive issued a embargo on the files to restrict the public release of "any investigative information, notes, reports or photos" connected to the probe.
The Medical Examiner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the outcome of murder, with a public database noting the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Response and Criticism
In the wake of the tragedy, public personalities offered varying responses.
Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, making controversial remarks that were widely condemned by many public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his voice to the critics recently. Speaking on his program, Rogan described the comments as "disappointing" and implied they demonstrated a concerning deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan concluded by remarking that an aide should have acted when the decision to comment on the death was made.
