A woman charged with stalking Kate McCann allegedly deposited her a recorded message which asked: "imagine I am Madeleine?"

Julia Wandelt, 24, who a jury heard has consistently asserted she was the disappeared Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are facing charges accused with pursuing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February 2025.

On Monday, the court learned communication data and data obtained from phones recorded Ms Wandelt consistently demanding Madeleine's mother for a DNA test over the past two years.

Madeleine's vanishing in 2007 - at the age of three during a trip in Portugal - is considered the most widely reported child disappearance cases and remains open.

'I Am Not Seeking Money'

Another recorded message, shared in court, documented Ms Wandelt stating: "I know I'm heavy and unattractive like Madeleine was, but I know what I believe."

While one recording of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's voicemail said: "Imagine there is a tiny probability that I am she? What then? Isn't that important for you?"

"I do not need money, I have a living here in Poland, I just want to know," she added.

The tribunal was informed that via emails, SMS messages and communications, Ms Wandelt demanded a DNA test, transmitted early photographs to her phone in a effort to display a likeness to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and stated to have "memories" from a childhood with the McCanns.

The investigator, a data specialist with the police force who collated the evidence, informed the court there "didn't appear to be any answers" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt additionally communicated with acquaintances of the McCanns, as per the call data.

On that date, the father responded to a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "the wrong phone."

That day Ms Wandelt recorded a recording on Mrs McCann's voicemail declaring "I will persist and I will prove my position."

The court was informed the co-defendant developed a connection online with Ms Wandelt prior to assisting her on a visit to the McCanns' property in the county in that winter.

Phone records revealed Mrs Spragg had communicated via WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to state the press had characterized Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she ought to be considered genuine in the time leading up to the visit to Rothley, that area, in December 2024.

The court heard correspondence between the two individuals, in last November, planning endeavoring to obtain Mrs McCann's genetic material from her trash or from silverware at a restaurant.

"We have to make a stand," the co-defendant advised Ms Wandelt.

On the night of the trip to their home, Mrs Spragg dispatched a communication which stated: "We are sat near the McCanns' house with our lights out like detectives. I wanted to do this with someone else I didn't imagine I would be engaged in this with the McCanns."
